Shape
Alex was assigned to shoot a theme of shapes including a square, circle, triangle, and other organic shapes as well. Alex said that shape photography focuses on capturing interesting and visually appealing forms, patterns, and structures in a composition. Unlike traditional photography that may emphasize subjects or scenes, shape photography emphasizes the inherent shapes within those elements. Alex thought that this would be an easier assignment, due to the fact that everything you look and see are mainly shapes shapes but he was indeed wrong, shape photography was one of the hardest things he had to shoot was his exact words. His favorite picture is Image 2 because the bouncy ball submerged underwater captures the essence of shape photography. The crystal clear water refracts and distorts the ball's colorful lines, highlighting its shape. The surrounding bubbles add an extra layer of visual interest as well. His second favorite image is the shower drain because of the geometric shapes in this photo of a shower drain surrounded by rock tiles shows a rough and smooth aesthetic. He thinks the organic and non organic shapes in this picture show a lot of composition which enhances the image overall.
